Sensarte Cookware Review

Granite Cookware is all the craze. A new company has come about, Sensarte. They tick all the check box, granite pan, plastic handle and a stellar review. However, what does it all mean. While it might seem like a great bargain, but is it? How does it compare to its competitor? This Review takes a closer look at the brand and the design.

What is Granite Cookware?

Granite Cookware is a ceramic based cookware. The main thing that makes them stand out is the granite like appearance. Its stony and pebbly like texture offer little to no performance benefit but it does make it attractive. At its core, its basically a ceramic non stick.

Ceramic nonstick has some benefit over traditional Teflon Cookware. It has a higher temperature rating, its also non toxic. Ceramic based nonstick does not use PFOA during manufacturing. PFOA can damage the environment and cause cancer if exposed. But it rarely ends up on the actual cookware.

Is Sensarte Pan Safe?

Yes, its safe. The Ceramic Based nonstick is safer than traditional teflon. If you overheat teflon, it can release fumes that causes flue like symptom. The lack of PFOA is also great.

Non Stick Performance

The nonstick performance is good…initially. As you use it, the pan will expand and contract. This constant expansion and contraction cause tiny cracks in the coating. These cracks will degrade the nonstick performance. Even though this is a granite base cookware, it faces the same problem.

Casted Aluminum

Perhaps the best thing about Sensarte Cookware is that its casted. Most cookware these days are stamped. They get a sheet of aluminum and stamp a shape. The downside to these stamp cookware is thickness and shape. With a casted cookware, you can make it as thick as you like. Also, the shape is not limited.

Compared to other cookware, Sensarte is a bit thicker. As a result, it performs better. It can store more heat and sear food better.

Disc Bottom

At the base of Sensarte Cookware, there is a disc. This disc does two thing. It gives it more heft and it makes it induction compatible. Aluminum by itself, wont work with induction. In order for induction cook top to work, it needs to have a magnetic pull. Since it now has a stainless steel layer, it is now compatible.

Sensarte Cookware Cleaning

Cleaning is a breeze. Like other nonstick, nothing sticks. So when it comes to cleaning, you just need to wipe. Using soapy water and sponge will do the trick. However, I would avoid using a dishwasher. They decrease the lifespan of nonstick.

Looks Similar to other Cookware?

Sensarte like other brands share similar design and appearance. Thats because most of these stuff are made by the same factory. A company will just put some variation on the design and slap their label. But for the most part, its very similar. I’m not saying Sensarte did the same thing, but it looks very similar.

Is Sensarte Cookware Any Good?

Yes, its pretty decent for the price. Its casted design makes it perform better than traditional nonstick. The nonstick coating could be better, but its pretty standard for ceramic nonstick. But for the price, you can easily replace it after it goes bad.

I would need a picture to give you a better response. But it can be the coating flaking.

Is my Sensarte cookware oven proof? If so to what degree? How about the plastic handles?

It should be perfectly safe for cooking. Since this model uses a ceramic type coating. It wont release teflon fumes like regular non stick pans. I hope that answer your question.

The Sensarte listings on Amazon do not claim they are ceramic. They say “SWISS NON-STICK COATING – Switzerland ILAG nonstick coating, SGS approved. PFOA free.” Googling Swiss ILAG brings up a lot of .ch (china) promotional information pushing this coating. Visiting the manufacturer’s site for the ILAG coatings, they show that they make various coatings for food preparation.

There’s no way of knowing which one of these coatings is on this pan, but most of their coatings appear to be PTFE based. One states silicone (Ilaflon® Select) and one states ceramic (Ceralon®), but there are more than just these listed in other places on the site. It is reasonable to assume Sensarte would not only want to specify which coating is being used to promote it as a ceramic coating, but would also be required to specify which coating it is because these are Registered brand names.
