In my experience, they are the best storage container around. However, there are some flaws that I have notice after years of usage. This review will take a closer look at this storage container and see whether its worth it in your kitchen.

Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Features

Rubbermaid Brilliance Pantry and Food Storage Container is a storage container done right. From its flapping latches to its rubber seal. It simply works well. At the bottom of the latches, there are two vent holes to allow air to escape. As you press down, you hear air rush out creating a air tight seal. The rubber gasket prevents liquid from getting out.

The shape is rectangular for easy storage. Although its not perfectly square, it still maximize storage capacity.

The plastic use is known as tritan plastic. It has a clean clear look that resembles glass. Durability is great but the clean look will lose its luster with use. Mines are not as clean as it use to be.

Microwaveable and Oven Safe

For the most part, Rubbermaid Brilliance Food Storage Container is microwave safe. However, it can melt. I find that microwaving it too long and somewhat melt the side. I never microwaved it with the lid on, but I assume you need to open the vent so that pressure wont build up.

As far as the oven goes, do not use it. It will melt it and destroy it. If the Microwave can start to melt it, you can be sure that the oven will.

Light Weight

Generally, heavier things are better. Storage Container is the opposite. Lighter container is both great for the fridge and portability. If you have something thats heavy like glass, it might look nice, but horrible for transport. This light weight design make it easy to move food around during lunch. They even have different version for stuff like salad. It separate different food and even contain a storage for sauces.

What Size do Rubber Brilliance Comes In?

There are many sizes available. My most used one are the 1.3 cup model. They are perfect for separating food and ingredients. The size smaller also great for storing sauces and left over. While it looks tiny, it still holds quite a bit of food. The next size is the 1qt model. This is perfect for family size storage. Another great use is storing stock. I like how you can stack it neatly. Since its not overly large, you can stick it in the freezer and take it out as needed.

Biggest Size

The biggest size that I can find is made for the pantry. Its a whopping 19.9 cup and great for storing grains and other food. You also have option of 8, 12 and 16 cup. Instead of being wide, these pantry container are tall. Great for spaghetti as well but makes it a big annoying when you try and scoop food.

Is Rubbermaid Brilliance Safe?

Yes, a lot of fear of plastic is overblown. But to quell the fear, this model is BPA Free. Its unlikely that it will leach into your food. If its really that big of a concern, you can avoid microwaving in it.

Storing Rubbermaid Brilliance Container

The great thing about these container is storage. They are made to be stacking. Just use a nest principle and you should be able to stack them on top of one another. As a result, it saves a lot of space especially compared to the glass option. Since its plastic, it wont shatter as well. However, you need to find a place to store the lids separately.
