They have a easy to use digital control, a fry basket and a easy to clean nonstick interior. Compared to its competitor, its a little bit more affordable. However, it still packs a whopping 1500 watts of power. Making it able to fry and bake wings, vegetable and more. Given all that it can do, its one of the best bargain air fryer around. Who is Insignia

Insignia is actually a off shoot brand of best buy. You can find a wide range of product with the insignia brand. Things like TV, fridge and more are all available. While this may sound bad, most of these products are made by the same factory. What might change is the specification and label of the product. You will rarely find any significant differences between products. I actually purchased and owned quite a few product from this line and none have broken on me since.

This section will discuss the design and performance of Insignia Air Fryer. We will go over shape, construction and general performance.

How to Use

This air fryer works like most other air fryer. It has a heating element on top with a fan. The fan circulates the hot air around the food drying out the food. When the oil heat up, it crisps up the skin. In essence its more of a bake than a fry. So don’t expect the same deep fry quality. But it does significantly cut down on the amount of oil used.

To use it is pretty simple, all you need to do is load the food and press the power button twice. You can control the temperature and time even when its cooking. If you want to control it before hand, press the power button first then adjust your setting. After that, you can press the power once more.

One thing to note is that the basket needs to be closed all the way for it to work. If its not, the power will be cut.

Halfway through cooking, it is recommended to toss the food. This way you get a more even fry on the food. The air fryer will remember the time and temperature setting. You can do this by simply pulling on the basket. The button there is just meant to separate the two basket, not to open it.

Power

One of the best thing about Insignia Air Fryer is its power rating. At home, the maximum power draw that you can get is 1800 watts. Any higher and you will flip the circuit breaker. For that reason, you will rarely see any appliance that has a higher rating of 1800. Besides, it cost manufacturer more money to make it stronger.

Because of this, the air fryer has a temperature range of 180-400°F. This should let you cook just about anything you would need.

Basket

The basket design is also pretty ingenious. It has perforated holes on the sides and the bottom to improve air flow. This bakes things more evenly than other basket design. It is a bit small but its fine if you only plan on cooking for one or two. They carry a bigger model in case you need it. It also features a nonstick coating to make it easy to clean. The basket is also detachable to make removing food easier. I recommend washing it after every use. To make it even easier, I recommend lining it with aluminum foil.

What Can You Cook in it?

You can pretty much cooking anything you would in a oven. In fact, I would say this is more efficient due to the fan. Food gets hot faster and it crisp up better. Some of my favorite things to cook are chicken wings and frozen fries. When you are hungry, all you need to do is pull it from the freezer and set the time. There are also preset time if you need it. However, I find that you should adjust it depending on the food.

You can even cook things like fish fillet. All you need to do is coat it with bread crumb and sprinkle some salt in it. Pop it in the air fryer and it should come out crispy.

Insignia Air Fryer Thoughts

Overall, this is an excellent air fryer. It is powerful and easy to use/clean. For what you pay, you really cant beat it. It is also pretty durable, after a year of usage, its still chugging along. If you are looking for a healthier alternative than deep fry with less fat, an air fryer is the way to go. You wont be dissapointed with it. The only downside that I see is the small basket. If you want to cook for more people, I recommend that you look for a bigger model.
