Alfresco Grill Design and Features

Double Wall and Why its Great

Whats so great about Alfresco Grill is that their wall is double wall. These does two thing. First, it will keep the grill insulated, meaning that the exterior wont get very hot. The second thing is that it will keep on the heat. This will reduce the overall usage of gas and help maintain a constant temperature.

I suspect that their air cooled control panel is just using double wall thermal insulation. Much like how thermos keep their liquid hot or cold.

Rotisserie

The Rotisserie function is a internal chain drive mechanism. This means that there is not separate accessories to make it work. All you need to do is press a button and it will run. It should pretty much run any food that you can fit into the grill. Great for multiple chicken.

If you do not plan on cooking anything with the rotisserie, you can just set it aside. It just pops off really easily.

Heating Zones

These grills have quite a few different heating zones. The main one is where all the briquettes are at. They help catch grease and maintain a steady temperature.

On the top, there is a warming rack where you can adjust the height. These are great for if you want to keep food warm or just to smoke it. If you need to store it, the top center has a storing position so you wont loose it.

On the left side, there is a optional searing section. This section can reach a temperature of 1500 degree Fahrenheit. Great for a beautifully golden crust on any steak. It also captures any grease and drop it a easy to clean section. The V shape traps on that section helps protect the infrared section and improves the overall life span.

Smoker Box

Another great thing about Alfresco Grill is its integrated smoker box. It goes right in the center and you can heat it up with the smoker knob. This design is much better than the modern version where you rest it on top of the grill.

Ignition

Ignition of the burner is pretty easy, all you need to do is press a button. It is electrically powered so you do need to plug it in. If you do not have a electrical output, you can always just light it with a match or lighter.

Alfresco Grill Construction and Parts

The whole thing is made of stainless steel. They are more resistant to rust and elemental damage. However, it is still recommended that you cover it when its not in use. Just to help maintain its beauty and longevity.

Handle wise, its nice and round. When you go and lift the hood, it rolls in your hand. Other grills will sometimes use a square one and it will scrape and feel uncomfortable.

The grills are also made of stainless steel. These can have some issues with sticking if you do not season it. Luckily, all you need to do is grab a pair of tongs and a paper towel. Dip it in oil and run it over the grate before cooking. This should reduce the overall amount of sticking.

Dials and Knobs

The dials and knobs are incredibly well built. They are nickel plated and have a weight around 12 oz. This gives it a nice and heavy feel. You can also remove it for easy cleaning.

Lights and More

Around the Alfresco Grill there are also lights to help you cook in the dark. Its perfect when you are in a shaded area as well. If you somehow forget to turn it, there is a auto shut off feature. What that means is that it wont burn out if you somehow forget to turn off.

Alfresco Grill Thoughts

Overall, the build quality is amazing. From the heavy duty knob to the little touches to the fit and finish. The searing zone and the rotisserie is really a fantastic feature. You really get what you pay for. If you are looking for a high end grill, Alfresco Grill wont disappoint.

Well, I gotta tell ya, I purchased the Alfresco 42″ grill and it has some very serious shortcomings. The quality is nowhere near what you seem to think it is – it is not a sturdy product – mine was “crooked” when it arrived and they had to send special tech to straighten it – but it never really got straightened, it’s still crooked.
And it leaks – ya – unless it is covered, rain gets into the drawers, including the grease drawer, and the side burner. This makes a total mess!!!
And the wind guard option that I purchased couldn’t be installed – they did not have the correct bolts for it and I had to negotiate for several weeks with the tech service folks at the factory to get proper bolts.
And, yes, lights are nice, but for this price – the lights should be way more sophisticated than they are – there should be an indicator for each burner so that one can see at a glance if any burner is on.
And the markings for the burners are (a) fainl and (b) pooly positioned for visibility.
I will admit, that it does have strong, even heat and the rotisserie is excellent – those are wonderful features! But for $17,000 Canadian dollars (about $13,000 USD), that would be the minimum expected.
We have been trying to get these issues corrected by the factory but they just don’t care.
We are extremely disappointed.
