Cuisinart Matte Black Collection Review
Cuisinart Matte Black Collection is the newest line of cookware by Cuisinart. They are now using titanium to reinforce the pan to make it more durable. Unlike traditional nonstick, its PTFE, PFOA and PFOS free. Making it one of the most toxic free nonstick on the market. But is it any good? While it uses less chemical, it suffers in terms of durability.
Cuisinart Matte Black Collection Features
Here is a quick summary of its features.
– Titanium Non Stick Ceramic.
– Heavy Gauge Aluminum Core
– Easy Grip and Heat resistant Silicone Handle
– Oven Safe to 350 F
– Lifetime Warranty
Cuisinart Matte Black Collection Design
Handle
The handle is a very simple. It is attached to the pan via two rivets. The metal portion of the handle runs to the end with a silicone covering. Near the base of the handle, there is a heat choke. During use, it should resist heat and stay cool to the touch.
In the center of the handle, there is a divot for your thumb. This aids in control and comfort. The loop handle on the end is useless. Its much too thick to hang it.
The Handles on the pots and pans seems nice and big. However, there are also exposed metal on the sides. I highly recommend that you wear gloves while handling it. Touching the sides could mean burning your hand.
Shape
The pan resembles the design of a traditional French Skillet. From the base to the side, there is a gentle slope upward. This design lets you flip and turn food with ease.
The rim of the pan has no rolled lip or pouring spots. Liquid will drip to the side of the pan when you turn to pour. You can get around this by pouring with conviction. This breaks the water tension and prevent it from dripping.
Looking at all the other pots, it seems like none of them has a rolled lip. You might get away with this with a frying pan, but a saucepan should at least have a spout.
Cuisinart might have their own reason for doing this. But usually manufacturer omit a pouring lip to save cost on manufacturing.
Material Used
The Cuisinart Matte Black Collection is painted black. Overtime expect it to get dulled and scratched.
Beneath the paint, lies a aluminum body. Aluminum is one of the best conductor of heat, making it a better choice than either cast iron or stainless steel. The downside to aluminum is that they are prone to warping. Manufactures get around this by putting a stainless steel base on the bottom. Reinforcing the pan and making it induction compatible.
The interior is brown colored with a ceramic non stick finish. One of the selling point is the Titanium infusion. Since ceramic is a poor conductor of heat, manufacturer will often time mix it with different product to improve it. One more well known one is diamond. I assume this is same concept for this model. Personally, I think the improvement is marginal and more of a marketing gimmick.
Oven Safe?
The cookware is oven safe up to 350 F. Models with metal handles can usually handle higher temperature. But this sacrifices conveniences. I recommend that you just avoid the oven in general.
Interesting enough, ceramic nonstick is actually rated higher than traditional teflon. The coating should be able to withstand the heat.
cuisinart matte black collection Thoughts
This is your standard ceramic non stick cookware. The main issue that I have with this set is the handle. Although it is comfortable, the silicone and plastic design limits the versatility of the pan. The oven temperature limit seems to be 350 f which is pretty low to me. Also on the pots, the sides have exposed metal increasing the risk that it might burn your hand. I recommend that you wear gloves when handling it. Other than that its a pretty good set of nonstick cookware.
It seems like Amazon do not sell this line of cookware yet. This version seems to popup when you search for it, but its not the same one. But you can purchase it from Kohls

April 14, 2020 at 7:35 amI own this set (and the previous older ceramic version in blue) and I absolutely love these! No issues with the handle getting hot. No issues with sticking! In fact I don’t even use a spatula to flip eggs in my small frying pan, I just flip it with the flick of my wrist! That being said, to keep your nonstick surface for a long period of time, do NOT run the pan, while it’s hot, under cold water, and when possible, make sure you leave the food out on the counter for 10-15 minutes to slightly warm up, as cold on a hot non stick surface will slowly wear out any nonstick pan. I’ve had this set for about 6 months or so, (the blue one for 5+ years) and with a lifespan of 3-4 years for nonstick pans, I love the price point, and the quality.

September 25, 2021 at 6:24 pmI hunted for new pots and pans for several days looking for one set that was not too heavy as I am 75 and ‘arthur’ has set in to my hands. So saying that, I picked up and held many of the sets and found Cuisinart to be in my range of strength to handle. I have not yet used them, but may come back to the sight and give another comment.
